Our Week

Monday night was busy with basketball, Girl Scout's, Wrestling and a trip to the emergency room. Cody broke his arm wrestling the coach, I guess that is what happens when the person you are wrestling weighs 100 lbs more. Cody was a real trooper and did not even cry. And he has not complained at all. Now we just have to pray he does not need surgery.

Our first broken bone:
Chey is loving cheer leading and surprisingly I am enjoying coaching her team. They are a hardworking and sweet group of girls.

Then we went to a Wake Forest Basketball game. The kids loved it.Cody is too cool for pics with the Deacon I guess.

Pre School Egg Carton Games

With times being the way they are, a lot of us are trying to save money. Here are some inexpensive pre -school games you can make yourself, and the kids really like to play them.

Egg Carton Counting Game:

I used: an egg carton, scissors, printed numbers (writing them works too), glue stick, and dry beans or beads.

I cut out the numbers and glued them to inside of the egg cups.

Now count the beans and place them in the correct egg cup. My kids love using my kitchen utensils to play. They used a small ladles, measuring spoons and measuring cups.

The second game we made was Egg Carton Color Matching

We painted a egg carton different colors in each cup.

To play, we used kitchen tongs to place colored pom-poms in the correct matching egg cup.

The key to these games is allowing your kids to use fun things to move the beans and pom-poms.

Apple Crumb

I do not know what to call this recipe but I threw some things together and it was very,very good.


2 cans of Apple Pie filling (Cherry is good too)

1/4 cup of dried cranberries

1 cup flour

1 cup of oats

1 1/3 cup of Brown Sugar

1 1/4 tsp nutmeg

2/3 cup of butter


Pour pie filling and dried cranberries in an 8 inch square baking dish. In a bowl, soften butter. Then add the rest of the ingredients to the butter and combine. Spread the butter mixture evenly on the top of pie filling.

Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serve with cool whip. YUM !!

Easy Kid Friendly Dessert

Last Night I had some extra cresent rolls and made an easy dessert everyone loved.


Cresent Rolls

Peanut Butter *

Chocolate Chips


Unroll each cresent roll on a baking sheet. Spread on peanut butter* and sprinkle on desired amount of chips. Roll cresent rolls sealing the edges. Bake for the directed time on cresent package.

*If you have peanut allergy issues substitute peanut butter with minature marshmallows.

Valentine Sno-Ball Catapillar

These are very cute love bugs if you ask me, and yummy too.

3 Hostess sno balls
2 Twizzlers
2 mini M&M
Dab of white icing

1. Line up the Sno Balls end to end on a serving plate.
2. Cut Twizzlers into six two-inch pieces (some will be left over) and insert two into each Sno- Ball for legs.
3. Insert lollipops into the top of the "head" for antennae.
4. Use icing to secure M&M's for eye.

Then my kids started playing with it and turn it into this:

Love this Dessert !! and Chicken Bundles

I love this dessert. It is super easy, 2 ingredients and taste good. It is so easy a young baker in the house could do this.

Pineapple Angel Food Cake


1 Box of Angel Food Cake (the one step kind)

1 20 oz can crushed pineapple in it's own juice


Preheat oven 350. Mix cake mix with pineapple and juice (pineapple is substituting for the water) in a bowl and mix with a mixer for about 1 minute. Pour batter into a 9x13 ungreased baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool and serve.


I also made these Chicken Bundles. My family loved them, they rarely love anything I make. With 6 people it is hard to find something they all liked.



4 cups of cooked chicken (I place the chicken breast in the Crockpot in the morning so they are ready in the evening)

8 oz cream cheese softened

8 Tbsp butter, softened

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1/4 cup milk

1 Tbsp minced onion

2 packages of crescent rolls

1 jar of chicken gravy, warmed

Mix chicken, cream cheese, butter, spices, milk and onion in a bowl.

Unroll crescent rolls to form a rectangle, fill with chicken mix. Pinch up the corners (makes 8 bundles). Bake @ 375 for about 15-20 minutes. Serve with warmed gravy.

Today was Cheyanne's first day cheering. She had so much fun. The girls did great !!!
