Octopus Hat Craft

I love the beach, so any beach inspired craft is totally for me. This is a fun craft that looks cute sitting on a self or you can attach a hanger and hang it from a door knob or on a window.

You will need: a small craft hat (you can find them at any craft store), foam sheets, wiggly eyes, paint , paint brush, glue, scissors, and a hole punch (optional). Also small decoration like sea shells are cute.

First have the kids paint the hat, while you cut out legs, smile, and circles for the legs (for small circles I used the hole punch).

I always try to get all the pieces that need to be glues together. Them let them glue the pieces on.

This is Colton's, he put the sea shell on the octopus' head for a hat.

Fun Bread

I am always looking for news ways to make lunch time a little different, here is an idea to jazz up your everyday sandwich or toast. Paint your toast, you can paint it and surprise the kids or let them do it themselves.

You will need: bread. milk, food coloring and a new paint brush.

Add a few drops of food coloring to the milk, stir.

Paint a design or message on the bread.

Here are some simple ideas.

Then toast the bread until it is done the way you like it.

My kids really enjoy when I do this.

This is a fun activity that I have not done for a while. My son was begging to do it. So we went out to the store to get some Borax and came home and mixed up this conncotion. This is always a hit with the kids.
You will need 2 mixing bowls, 8 oz of Elmer's Glue (must be Elmer's), green food coloring, spoon, 1 tablespoon of Borax (laundry booster), and plastic bag or plastic container for storage.
-Mix 1 cup of cold water with 8 oz of Elmer's Glue in one mixing bowl.
-In second bowl, mix 1 Tbsp of Borax with 1/2 cup of very hot water (not boiling). Stir well until the Borax is dissolved.
-Add 10 drops of food coloring to the Borax mixture.
-Slowly add the hot Borax mixture to the glue mixture. Stir for a few seconds.
-Now use you hands to squish the mixture together. This makes a gooey, non sticky, stretchy Goo.
Store the goo in a plastic bag or plastic container with a lid.You can keep keep the goo for several weeks as long as you refrigerate when you are not playing with it.

My kids love to add bugs and lizards (that you can get at the Dollar Tree) to the Goo. I monsters trucks are fun too.

Activity Flower

With summer coming up, I thought this would be a good way to decide what the kids can do when they all want to do something different at the same time. Underneath each petal has an activity, so when one wants to read, another wants to ride bikes, the third wants to do a craft and the fourth wants to do play a game, this will decide. And I think it is cute and fun to make.

You will need:a colored paper plate (or paint a white plate), green paper for the stem, scissors, fake flower, colored paper for petals, glue, cylinder container (like Pringles) and large paperclips.

Wrap the cylinder container with green paper for stem. poke small hole in the center of the plate for flower.

Cut round circles out of colored paper for petals. And glue on paper clips around the plate.

Write activities on the back of the petals (read a book, ride bikes, do a puzzle, do a craft, color, go for a walk, play dress up, sing songs and play a game or what ever activities your children like to do.

Place flower in the hole and sit flower on the stem.

Inch Worm Craft for Kids

These are cute little critters my kids had a great time making. I am sorryfor how the writing is alloff on this post. I can not seem to correct it. It keeps bunching up my pictures.

You will need : foam sheets, pipe stem cleaners, pom-poms, glue, scissors, wiggly eyes, and a hole puncher.

Cut the foam sheet into a strip. Fold it back and forth in equal sections accordion style. Punch holes through the foam sheet, my hole punch did two pieces at a time.

This is what it should look like after punching the holes.

Have the kids thread the pipe stem cleaner through the holes. Fold pipe stem cleaner on each end to keep the foam pieces folded. Cut off ends as needed.

Glue on pom-poms to one end and decorate with a face.
